How it works

How virtual primary care actually works.

No mystery, no app to figure out. Here's exactly what happens.

What you need on your end

A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera. A reasonably private place to talk. That's it — no app to download, no account to create. I send alink, you tap it, we're talking. If your connection drops, we switch to phone and keep going.

Labs and bloodwork

I order your labs electronically to a draw site near you — most members are within a short drive of one. You go in, they draw, results come back to me directly. You pay wholesale. No markup, no surprise bill weeks later. Our price list is published so you can see exactly what anything costs before you agree to it. We review results together, not through a portal message you have to decode alone.

Prescriptions

message me and it's handled. One important limit: this practice does not prescribe controlled substances. That includes stimulants for ADHD, most anxiety medications, and controlled pain medications. If you need that care, I'll help you find the right local provider.

-
Specialists and imaging

When you need a specialist, an X-ray, an MRI, or a procedure, I make the referral to a provider near you and send your records ahead. You are nothanded a phone number and left to figure it out.For members paying cash, I'll help you find the price before you go. The difference between facilities is often large and almost never advertised.

-
Reaching me between visits

Members message me directly through the patient portal for questions, refills, results, and anything that comes up. It's included — there's no permessage charge and no limit. Secure messaging is a convenience, not a substitute for a visit. When something needs to be seen, evaluated, or discussed properly, we get on video. Often the same day.

Response times: I respond to messages within one business day and usually much faster. For anything urgent, you'll hear from me the same day.ing me between visits

What virtual can't do

When you need someone in the room

I'll say this plainly, because you should know it before you join.

Virtual care handles a great deal — probably more than you'd expect. What it can't do is put hands on you. Some exams require touch. Some problems need imaging. Some situations need an emergency department, immediately.

Go to an emergency room or call 911 for: chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe injury, or anything you'd describe as an emergency.

You'll need an in-person visit for: procedures, most vaccinations, certain physical exams, and anything I determine needs hands-on evaluation.

When that happens, I tell you directly, help you find where to go, and coordinate afterward. A doctor who knows when to send you somewhere else is worth more than one who doesn't.
